Lambda Literary, the nation's leading nonprofit organization advancing LGBTQ literature, is pleased to announce a grant of $30,000 from the Amazon Literary Partnership for a eighth year in a row, a continuation of Amazon.com's support for the Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ Voices. This year's Retreat was held August 5th through August 12th, 2017 on the campus of Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles.

National Endowment for the Arts

 

 

National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu has approved more than $82 million to fund local arts projects across the country in the National Endowment for the Arts' (NEA) second major funding announcement for fiscal year 2017. Included in this announcement is an Art Works award of $25,000 to Lambda Literary to support the Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ Voices, the LGBTQ Writers in Schools Program, and Lambda's national reading series. The NEA received 1,728 Art Works applications and will make 1,029 grants ranging from $10,000 to $100,000.

Lambda Literary, the nation's leading organization advancing lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) literature, announced the winners of the 29th Annual Lambda Literary Awards (the "Lammys") at a ceremony hosted by multi-genre artist Justin Vivian Bond at NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts in New York City. The ceremony brought together attendees, sponsors, and celebrities to celebrate excellence in LGBT literature and twenty-nine years of the groundbreaking literary awards.

Lambda Literary, the nation's oldest and largest literary arts organization advancing LGBTQ literature, announced the finalists of the 29th Annual Lambda Literary Awards - or the "Lammys," as they are affectionately known. They were chosen from nearly 900 submissions and over 300 publishers. Submissions came from major mainstream publishers and from independent presses, from both long-established and new LGBTQ publishers, as well as from emerging publish-on-demand technologies. Visionary and Trustee Award honorees, the master of ceremonies, and celebrity presenters will be announced in April. The winners will be announced at a gala ceremony on Monday evening, June 12, 2017 in New York City.

Save The National Endowment For The Arts

On Thursday, it was announced that the President hopes to eliminate funding for the National Endowment for the Arts.

This is unacceptable. By eliminating this funding, the administration is waging an assault on free expression, on the impact the arts have on the economy, and the role arts play in education, healing, and innovation.
