Lambda Literary is proud to announce the opening of the submissions period for the 28th Annual Lambda Literary Awards (Lammys). Entering their 28th year, the Lammys honor books in more than twenty genres ranging from literary fiction and poetry to speculative fiction, graphic novels and memoir.
To celebrate the recent SCOTUS ruling on marriage equality, New Millennium Writings (NMW), an award-winning literary journal founded in 1996, is hosting a special «Love Wins» essay competition. NMW will call for essays asking people what the recent SCOTUS decision means to them and their community. The winner will receive $1,000 and publication in the NMW anthology and on their website. The contest will run from July 8th to August 31st.
Lambda Literary is pleased to announce the start of Lambda's Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ Voices, the only queer writers residency in the nation.
In July, a law passed requiring schools to include lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders in social studies courses in California. Two collectors of literary decided to donate around 500 gay-and-lesbian-themed books to California State University of Fresno.
