Following an article written by the Catholic Archdiocese of Mexico published on August 14, 2016 entitled "Gay marriage is a false right," Jesús Zambrano Grijalva, the current president of the Mexican Chamber of Deputies, attacked the Catholic church urging it not to "trespass on land where it did not belong," ie not to participate in the debate on equal marriage, and even asked the Ministry of the Interior to punish the church for its uncompromising public stance.

While the Mexican Council of the Family is trying to gather the necessary number of signatures to try to change the definition of marriage in the constitution of Mexico and while a new poll shows that equal marriage is now supported by 69% of the Mexican people, the government prepares to debate legalizing marriage for same-sex couples across the country.

There's a lot going on in Mexico! In this country where to be LGBT is still too taboo and dangerous, where there are more and more states which approved marriage equality, thanks to judges, and where in 2010, marriages of same-sex people were recognize in the whole country, a new advance has just taken place.
