To celebrate the recent SCOTUS ruling on marriage equality, New Millennium Writings (NMW), an award-winning literary journal founded in 1996, is hosting a special «Love Wins» essay competition. NMW will call for essays asking people what the recent SCOTUS decision means to them and their community. The winner will receive $1,000 and publication in the NMW anthology and on their website. The contest will run from July 8th to August 31st.

The Supreme Court of the United States is about to rule on the equal marriage and this decision could make a difference not only in terms of access to marriage, but it is also a family matter as this could lead to the end of procedures for adoption of our own children.

While the Supreme Court will begin to hear oral arguments at the end of April and it will decide on the equal marriage, and so on bans that still exist in many US states, in June, today, a lot of companies and financial institutions have filed a friend-of-the-court brief in which they consider that states that still prohibit gay unions «hamper employer efforts to recruit and retain the most talented workforce possible in those states.»
