2012 GLAAD Awards Nominees

Written by

One knows from now on the GLAAD Media Awards nominees. So which one will be the most representative of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community in the media?

One finds among these nominated certain films which had already been nominated for the Golden Globe Awards (see articles: LGBT Golden Globe Awards Nominations and LGBT Golden Globe Awards) and are nominated for Outstanding Film-Wide Release:

Albert Nobbs, Beginners, J. Edgar

Others more independent movies are in competition in the category of Outstanding Film - Limited Release:

Circumstance, Gun Hill Road, Pariah, Tomboy, Weekend

I just saw Tomboy and I know a little bit about Pariah and I like the way in which both are made. I would like that at least one of both wins.

Outstanding Drama Series: Degrassi, Grey's Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars, Shameless, Torchwood: Miracle Day

Which would be your favorite drama series? I like Grey''s anatomy but it is a little too much a heteronormativity to receive a prize representing the community, I like the series but on the whole, not only for the lesbian couple. Same thing for Shameless. I would choose Pretty Little Liars and you?

Outstanding Comedy Series: Exes and Ohs, Glee, Happy Endings, Modern Family, The Big C

Among nominees, there are also some LGBT episodes of series like NCIS for the episode "Recruited" or of TV films, miniseries like Cinema Truth and documentary listed below:

Becoming Chaz OWN: Oprah Winfrey, The Strange History of Don't Ask, Don't Tell, The World's Worst Place to be Gay?, Two Spirits, We Were Here

What is your best Outstanding Reality Program?

Dancing with the Stars, Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys, The Glee Project, The Real L Word, The Voice

Finally, among the categories which you could like, the Outstanding Music Artist:

Beverly McClellan, Fear Nothing, Girl in a Coma, Exits & All the Rest, Hunx and His Punx, Too Young to Be in Love, Lady Gaga, Born This Way, MEN, Talk About Body
