Are you up for a lesbian Batwoman on TV?

Are you up for a lesbian Batwoman on TV? Me too! The CW will soon launch a new series based on the cartoon Batwoman but the superheroine will be lesbian.

Batwoman aka Katherine Kane is a superhero who was created in 1956 by writer Edmond Hamilton. She disappeared from the comics in 1964, but 40 years later, the character was back as a Jewish lesbian. She became the first lesbian superhero.

Kate Kane is a rich heiress who decides to fight crime in Gotham. According to the synopsis, Kane is described as a "highly trained lesbian and street fighter" who is "armed with a passion for social justice and a flair to say what she thinks". But to become a true hero, she will have to "overcome her own demons".

Also, you know what? The series is produced and written by Caroline Dries who is lesbian. It's almost too good to be true. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Geoff Johns complete the production and writing team.

Queer representation around DC's universe and superheroes has increased lately on TV, but there was still no main character from our community. Batwoman will be the first!

Batwoman should start in 2019 so let's hope that the series is of quality and meets the success so that we can enjoy several seasons.
