CONTRAST Film Festival to feature five queer and female-focused films

CONTRAST Film Festival will take place July 20-22 in Austin, Texas. This first edition will feature five films that focus on women and the queer community.

CONTRAST is a multi-disciplinary festival with 3 days of film, music, and performance.

According to the official website, there will be seven projects in the program including five on queer women:

SHAKEDOWN chronicles explicit performances in an underground lesbian club in Los Angeles from 2002-2015. The story functions as a legend where money is both myth and material.

The story of extraordinary transgender rights activists, pioneers, and friends, Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, in the hours before the Stonewall riots.

"The Misandrist" is a film about a member of a radical terrorist group, the Female Liberation Army, who takes pity on an injured male leftist. She soon hides him in a basement -- one of many secrets that threaten the organization's mission from within.

17-year-old bb gay Micha has moved into The Palace - a basement full of queer femme Dominatrix, lovers, and misfits. They are beautiful, carefree and as young as the night.

A group of young friends on a camping trip, deep in the South African countryside wake up to discover they have all swapped bodies.

Performance artist Narcissister attempts to show how her family history impacted her life and propelled her to create the performance persona of Narcissister.
