British sales and financing company Film Constellation announced that multiple sales were bought by Vertigo for the UK, by Transmission for Australia and New Zealand, by Lucky Dogs for Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, and by Canal+ for Poland.
The motion picture will also be shown in the United States as the independent studio, finance and distribution outfit Good Deed Entertainment, associated with FilmRise, acquired the movie that will be released in spring 2019.
“Tell It to the Bees” is based on the novel of the same name by Fiona Shaw. The story takes place in a British town in 1952, after the second world war. It follows Dr. Jean Markham (Anna Paquin) who takes over the medical office of her late father in her hometown. We learn later that Jean's father kicks her out after she was caught kissing a girl.
Lydia Weekes (Holliday Grainger) works at the local mill to provide for her needs. She has a son Charlie and is married to Robert, who is no longer himself since his return from the war. Besides, he doesn't live with his wife anymore.
Dr. Jean met Lydia after Charlie was bullied in school. And when Lydia and her son find themself expelled, Lydia has no option but to ask for hospitality to her new friend Dr. Jean.
The two women are attracted to each other and sharing the same home won't help them to resist.
