“Tully” is the third collaboration between screenwriter Diablo Cody and director Jason Reitman after “Juno” and “Young Adults”.
“Tully,” tells the story of Marlo (Theron), a mother who is exhausted since the birth of her third baby. And her husband doesn’t get involved much whether for housework or looking after kids. Marlo’s brother offers her a nurse.
Played by Mackenzie Davis (Black Mirror’s queer episode “San Junipero”), Tully is a 26-year-old woman and a millennial Mary Poppins.
Tully allows Marlo to regain control of her life, to be a great mom with her two older children and to be a wife again.
The connection between the two women is exceptional. There is a certain attraction between them. But who is this wonderful Tully? The end of the movie will surprise you.
This isn‘t the first time that actress Charlize Theron plays queer women. She was a bisexual spy in “Atomic Blonde” and a lesbian serial killer in “Monster”.
“Tully” will be released on April 20, 2018. Here is the trailer (I love the end!):
