«The Danish Girl» is a trans* movie expected by the end of the year. This film tells the true story of Lili Elbe, the first woman to undergo gender reassignment surgery.

Beautifully written by Lucinda Coxon and directed by Tom Hooper, who entrusted crying when reading the script, «The Danish Girl» was inspired by the novel of the same name by David Ebershoff published in 2000 (http://www.ebershoff.com/book/the-danish-girl/).

«It was incredibly moving,» Hooper told the BBC. «What inspired me is it's a fantastic love story - it's as much story about a partner supporting someone going through a transition and the love that allowed this to change. It's so forgiving, so compassionate and selfless.»

«Lili was so courageous to go through that process at a time before antibiotics. The risks were incredibly high, one can only imagine the pain she was in,» he said.

«I hope it encourages other people who might feel marginalised because of their gender identity, to take inspiration from her extraordinary story.»

This is actor Eddie Redmayne («My Week with Marilyn», «Les Miserables») who was chosen to play the role of Lili. He said at the Toronto Film Festival that he was a «great privilege» for him to tell that story.

«Lily was an extraordinary human being and an icon in the trans community,» he added.

The movie is not released yet again that people talk of a possible Oscar nomination for the actor like actress Cate Blanchett for her lesbian role in «Carol».

To tell this beautiful story, Redmayne is accompanied by Swedish actress Alicia Vikander will play Lili's wife, Gerda Wegener, as well as openly bisexual actress Amber Heard, Ben Whishaw and Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts.

The story of «The Danish Girl» takes place in the 1920s in Copenhagen, Denmark. Gerda Wegener is an artist who loves to paint her husband, Einar Wegener, as a woman.

Gradually Einar becomes a woman and finally takes the name of Lili Elbe. Lili understands her body did not match with her identity. Supported by the immeasurable love of her wife, she began a gender reassignment process. Comes a little later a childhood friend, Hans Axgil (Matthias Schoenaerts). Then love triangle develops between him and the couple.

«The Danish Girl» will be released on November 27 in the US, January 1 in UK, January 20 in France after 15 years of work. Here is the trailer:
