A judge in Louisiana has ruled that the state prohibition on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional, in part because he says it violates the rights of equal protection.

Judge Edward Rubin had to decide on banning marriage equality in Louisiana following the case of two lesbians mothers. One of them wanted to adopt the son of the other and be considered as a parent on his birth certificate.
