Actress Julia Roberts supports LGBT students facing the Trump administration

Written by

Julia Roberts Miguel Johnson

Actress Julia Roberts is supporting Miguel Johnson, a 16-year-old student who is fighting for better protection for LGBT students in the face of the Trump administration.

Johnson is a student in the city of St. Joseph, Missouri. In his school, the protection policies for trans students were suddenly suppressed after the election of Trump that's why he has become a GLSEN ambassador.

He has recently appeared at the GLSEN Respect Awards during which he met Julia Roberts who immediately supported the cause.

"I had the pleasure of presenting with Miguel at the GLSEN Respect Awards, and Miguel, like all the students I meet there, is smart, kind and incredibly brace to live their life openly and honestly as such a young age," Roberts said.

"As a parent, I want all students to feel safe and protected at school, and I stand with Miguel and trans students across the country. You are loved."

She then added: "Before Trump got elected, he always said he was totally for LGBTQ students, because they’re people too and they deserve an education.

"And then after he got elected, he was basically like, 'Just kidding, I lied.'"
