Alabama Judge Roy Moore Could Be Suspended Following An Order To Probate Judges Not To Issue Same-Sex Marriage Licenses

Today will be taking a decision on whether Chief Justice Roy Moore, who had issued an order against same-sex marriages should keep his job or be removed.

The Alabama Court of the Judiciary is going to hear the case of Moore following a complaint by the Judicial Inquiry Commission for violation of judicial ethics, which accuses him indeed to have issued an order to the probate judges so they do not issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples following the decision by the Supreme court of the United States to legalize marriage equality across all US states.

In his order, he would have said that the prohibition of marriage equality which had been upheld by the Supreme Court of Alabama override the decision of the Supreme Court of the United States.

Roy Moore is a deeply Christian judge who opposes same-sex marriage. He denied the allegations and even tried to file a complaint against the Judicial Inquiry Commission, but his complaint was denied a hearing by a judge.

We obviously do not know if the charges against him are accurate, we therefore expect this decision. In any case, we obviously hope that he be suspended if the facts are proven.
