Allentown Allows Health Benefits For Gay Employees' Partners

Written by

The medical benefits in Allentown, Pa were extended to the partners of gay employees in the city's largest union and white-collar staff.

As long as they live together and are both responsible for finances of the household, the partners of gay employees will be eligible for health benefits. This measure gives also the possibility to take time off if your partner is in the hospital or dies.

Accoding to The Morning Call, the fire and police unions have yet to agree to changes, but city officials are optimistic the unions will sign a memorandum of understanding shortly.
