Anti-Gay Bullying Suicide: R.I.P. Brandon Bitner

Written by

Friday morning, Brandon Bitner, 14, was walking in front of a tractor-trailer to commit suicide.

"It was because of bullying," wrote his friend Takara Jo Folk in a letter to The Daily Item of Sunbury, PA. "It was not about race, or gender, but they bullied him for his sexual preferences and the way he dressed. Which they wrongly accused him of."

In his high school, Brendon was bullied because he was gay and he was wearing emo clothing style (wear tight-fitting pants and dyed-black or dark hair covering the face for example) following his love for this music.

"Anyone in our school who looks different is tortured," sophomore Emily Beall-Ellersieck told The Daily Item.

The school organized an anti-bullying assembly a few days before Brandon commits suicide.

"No one took it seriously, and joked around about it," said a student.

Brandon's friends have created a Facebook page "RIP Brandon Bitner." More than 2,700 people have already liked it.
