After the approval of the bill by the House of Representatives, the Governor Asa Hutchinson signed this bill into law Tuesday.
The law states that «a county, municipality, or other political subdivision of the state shall not adopt or enforce an ordinance, resolution, rule, or policy that creates a protected classification or prohibits discrimination on a basis not contained in state law.»
So if there are nondiscrimination laws for LGBT people in Arkansas counties or cities, they are now all canceled.
Note that the LGBT community in Arkansas was very disappointed not to see the president of the Human Rights Campaign, Chad Griffin, a native of the state, as well as Bill Cliton, former governor of Arkansas, and Hillary Clinton, strongly oppose the bill.
