Bill Allowing Oklahoma Churches Not To Celebrate Same-Sex Marriage Was Approved By The Senate

Written by

Yesterday, the Oklahoma Senate approved a measure that will protect the clergy and churches who don't want to celebrate same-sex marriages.

This legislation, introduced by Republican Senator Dan Newberry, received 39 votes in favor and 6 oppositions.

The measure will be sent to the House.

Last year, a federal judge repealed the marriage equality ban in the state.
