#BlackLivesMatter: Black And LGBT Communities Come Together To Combat The Murder Of Transgender Women

Tuesday, many rallies were held across the United States to stand up against violence suffered by transgender women and black transgender women.

Since the beginning of the year, 18 transgender women were murdered, half of whom were black. 18 murders! This figure already exceeds the figure for the full year 2014.

These gatherings, entitled Trans Liberation Tuesday, were organized by the organization Black Lives Matter.

«We say the names of Mya Hall, Kandis Capri, Elisha Walker, Shade Shuler, Ashton O’Hara, India Clarke, Amber Monroe. We say the names of the black trans women whose lives have been cut short and demand that our cisgender family acknowledge that all black lives matter,» Black Lives Matter strategic partner Elle Hearns said in a press release.

«The time is now to join #BlackLivesMatter in action as we celebrate our sisters who are living — the very sisters who have fought next to us to sustain this declaration that has been heard around the world.»

A petition asking the White House to take up these cases was filed. President Barack Obama had extended by decree the protection of trans* employees there about a year, but still missing too many protections and recognition.

It is necessary that this massacre urgently stops!
