California has become the first state to approve LGBT-inclusive history textbooks in primary schools.

Recently, California became the first US state recognizing a third gender. This time, California is the first to approve textbooks including LGBT people who contribute to history.

Equality California's executive director Rick Zbur welcomed this "long-fought victory": "Approval of these textbooks means that California schools will now have access to approved materials that accurately represent LGBTQ people, and Equality California applauds the State Board of Education for this historic decision."

From now on, students from kindergarten to eighth-grade will learn about LGBT people who have made history in their country.
