California Senate Passed Reparative Therapy Ban

Yesterday, I announced you California Senate was to vote on a law banishing the forms of "gay therapy" on anyone under the age of 18 (the ban would also be in effect regardless of whether a parent wanted to allow the therapy for their son or daughter) and asking that each adult wanting to follow this kind of therapy be informed of the consequences, good news, the state Senate approved this law.

There remains the approval of the state assembly, then of the Governor Jerry Brown, before California becomes the first state to stop this kind of therapy after the warning of the American Psychological Association which had described them as being damaging to patients and after researcher Robert Spitzer, who wrote a study which was supposed to prove the effectiveness of these therapies, finally admitted that he was wrong because he used erroneous testimony provided to him by religious conservatives.
