Challenge Against Texas Marriage Equality Ban To Begin In February 2014

Written by

The Federal Judge, who will rule on the challenge against the marriage equality ban in Texas, announced that the trial would start in February.

Last month, two same-sex couples decided to be opposed to the prohibition of equal marriage in Texas bringing the matter to a Federal Court.

We knew the case would be heard in San Antonio but we didn't know when the lawsuit would take place. The Associated Press had announced January 2014, but, finally, the trial will begin in February 2014.

Since the U.S. Supreme Court repealed DOMA, the Defense of Marriage Act which described marriage as a union between a man and a woman, and let each state choose if bans have to be repealed, challenges against these prohibitions do not cease being launched.
