Chicago Will Celebrate Civil Unions

Written by

A celebration is organized in Chicago to celebrate civil unions which will start on June 1st.

30 couples will unite on June 2nd at Wrigley Square in Chicago’s Millennium Park. Ceremonies will begin at 10:00 AM.

"What a terrific way for the city of Chicago to ring in civil unions," said Bernard Cherkasov of Equality Illinois, an LGBT rights group, "Having dozens of couples celebrate their love and commitment literally surrounded by the entire city is such a powerful symbol for how far we have come as a society."

That's good to celebrate but do they realize in Chicago that they have only civil unions and not the marriage, so still not all the same rights than straights couples?
