Colorado State Senate Judiciary Committee Passed Civil Unions Bill

Colorado Civil Unions

The Colorado State Senate Judiciary Committee passed the bill allowing civil unions for gay and lesbian couples.

We could almost forgot that there are states which don't even allow civil unions like Colorado after all this gay marriage cases.

The bill SB-2 has just been voted 5-2 after several hours of testimonies.

As explains The ExaminerThe Examiner, this legislation mirrors last year's civil union legislation which died along a party-line vote in the House Judiciary Committee.

Of course, this passage is only one stage, there will remain a full vote of the Senate and the House but, above all, it is necessary to pass the Senate Finance Committee. We currently don't know when.

It would seem that this bill is likely to go to the House but the problem is that this one has a Republican majority and it is besides Republicans who had blocked last year the first attempt.
