Could Be A Happy Ending For Gay Marriage In New Hampshire

Written by

Soon, we will know if the law allowing gay marriage in New Hampshire will be or not repealed. Don't worry too much, it could be a happy ending.

It would seem lawmakers will vote between January 11 and January 18 because on January 10 this is the presidential primary.

"The presidential candidates have a hard enough time getting their message out. This is the time for them to shine. We want them to get all the attention possible," said House Republican Leader D.J. Bettencourt.

The House is unfortunately controlled by Republicans so we already know it will vote in favor of the bill that would replace the law legalizing same-sex marriage with civil unions for any unmarried adults, including relatives. The measure would allow anyone to refuse to recognize civil unions according to Associated Press.

Then, even if the Senate is also Republican, it is not yet sure they gather the number of necessary votes to pass the bill.

Let us finish by the good news, Governor John Lynch, a Democrat, promised to not sign the bill.
