Denton Judge Asks LGBT Couples To Sign A Document Acknowledging That He Opposes Marriage Equality

Written by

James DePiazza

A Texas judge took the surprising decision to accept to marry same-sex couples despite his strong opposition to equal marriage. So why is this so surprising? Simply because-this one will ask the couples to sign a document, a kind of discharge, which stipulate he doesn't support marriage equality.

It was after the decision of the Supreme Court to legalize equal marriage in all US states that Judge James R DePiazza in Denton, Texas decided not to refuse to perform marriages between people of the same sex but still show his disagreement.

The document says: «We acknowledge Judge DePiazza’s position that he prefers to not conduct same-sex marriages and agree to not address the topic of same-sex marriages with Judge DePiazza before, during or after the ceremony.»

At least this judge doesn't refuse to do his job unlike others.
