Denver bans “conversion therapies” to LGBTQ minors

Written by

We had ended 2018 wondering if Denver would become the first Colorado city to ban “conversion therapies” for LGBTQ youth and the answer is YES!

It’s a fantastic win to begin 2019. And not only Denver banned “conversion cures” for LGBTQ minors but the City Council passed the measure unanimously.

Following the vote, Mayor Michael Hancock said in a statement: “This is a very proud moment for my administration, for members of City Council, and for everyone in Denver who values inclusion and acceptance.”

The prohibition will “protect youth from dangerous and discredited practices aimed at changing their sexual orientation or gender identity or expression,” the release said.

A new municipality is added to the growing list of cities and states banning “conversion therapies”.
