First Victory For Challenges In Texas

When we approach, day after day, the beginning of the lawsuit to repeal the marriage equality ban in Texas, which will start in February, a first victory has took place.

It is a little bit different in Texas because, even if we currently speak about 1 lawsuit, 1 challenge, in reality, the prohibition of same-sex marriage is attacked on all sides since 3 challenges were launched in the state.

So there is the February one, which will proceed in San Antonio, and then, two others could then take place in Austin. Of course, there is no date for the second and the third challenge.

Same-sex marriage's opponents recently tried to consolidate these three challenges to get more chance to win. A lawsuit is better than three and it could slow down the process as Neal Lane, the lawyer for two same-sex couples who have filed their case in Austin, said.

Fortunately, and it is thus a first victory for us, U.S. District Judge Sam Sparks declined the request.
