For The First Time, A Transgender Student Was Crowned Homecoming Queen At The Oak Park High School In Kansas City!

Written by

Landon Patterson

Landon Patterson, who just lived her life as an openly transgender student since May, was more than surprised by discovering the results since she did not expect such a reaction from her high school.

«I’ve dreamed about it since my freshman year, but I never knew it was possible for me,» she told KCTV5.

«Just knowing that I did this, and that I just broke some barriers, I can’t even put it into words what I’m feeling right now.

«I’m just excited and hope this is going to help others out there.»

Her mother, present at her side during the Homecoming Parade, said she was very proud of her daughter and urged parents to support and protect their children.

In October 2013, Steven Sanchez became the first transgender student to be elected Homecoming Queen.
