Year 2012 finished with one question: What will become the law prohibiting "ex-gay" therapies for minors in California? Remember, the law, after being approved and signed by Governor Jerry Brown, had been blocked by a judge whereas it was supposed coming into effect on January 1st while waiting for a decision on its constitutionality.

And then, there was this other judge, U.S. District Judge Kimberly Mueller, who had confirmed the law.

On wednesday, Gov. Jerry Brown and the Medical Board of California by state Atty. Gen. Kamala Harris appealed the court injunction blocking the law with the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

"Defendants wish to apprise the 9th Circuit of a related case currently pending before it … denying a motion for a preliminary injunction that would have enjoined enforcement of Senate Bill 1172," Harris wrote. "Both appeals involve the constitutionality of Senate Bill 1172 and raise the same and/or closely related legal issues."
