Guam Became The First American Territory To Legalize Marriage Equality

Written by

We recently spoke about US territories in the Pacific or the Caribbean, well, be aware that Guam has legalized marriage equality, becoming the first American territory to do so!

It's great news that we just heard since the Attorney General Elizabeth Barrett-Anderson ordered the officials to start opening marriage to same-sex couples.

This decision followed a challenge launched two days ago by a lesbian couple after they were denied a marriage license.

Barrett-Anderson said the Department of Public Health and Social Services should treat «all same gender marriage applicants with dignity and equality under the Constitution.»
