Illinois Marriage Equality Bill Advances

Written by

Back in Illinois where yesterday the president of the Senate stated that he would like to pass marriage equality on Valentine's Day. This wish could come true, Illinois Senate committee had to vote on the bill before a vote of the full senate and good news, the committee approved the bill 9-5.

The vote of the full senate will take place on February 14th and "it should be a very welcome Valentine’s Day gift for the thousands of couples and families that are anxiously awaiting the passage of this bill," as said Rick Garcia, director of the Equal Marriage Illinois Project.

Then, there will still remain a stage corresponding to the vote of the House of Representatives before the signature of Governor Pat Quinn who already said that he would sign the bill into law.
