A judge has repealed again the equal marriage ban in Kentucky but immediately put the case on hold, pending the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court.

In Kentucky, the prohibition of marriage equality had already been repealed last year, but was later reinstated by the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Two same-sex couples then launched a new challenge and therefore the Franklin County Circuit Judge Thomas Wingate has repealed again this ban, saying it violates the constitutional right to equal protection.

Next week, on April 28, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on marriage equality.
