Last year, we had spoken about Diane and Taeko who had wanted to stay in a Bed & Breakfast in Honolulu, Hawaii. Its owner had then refused to host them saying she felt uncomfortable to have lesbians in her house.

Back in United States, the couple had immediately contacted ACLU and had filed a lawsuit. In Hawaii, discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity is prohibited in public accomodations like Bed & Breakfast.

Monday, Hawaii First Circuit Court judge ruled there was discrimination based on sexual orientation in this case. The couple Diane and Taeko thus won.

The owner then sayed being gay was “detestable” and “defiles our land”.
