Maryland Gay Marriage Opponents Submitted Enough Signatures

Written by

Opponents to gay marriage in Maryland gave the number of signatures necessary to obtain a referendum in November.

They needed 55.736 signatures and they submitted 113.000 signatures. The state has now to verify them.

However, a spokesperson for Marylanders for Marriage Equality has said that while it was not unexpected that the petition would meet the required number of signatures, those opposed to equal marriage were losing ground.
