Maryland Senate Approuved Gay Marriage Bill

Written by

Finally, the gay marriage law in Maryland passed the third and last reading as I had spoken with you a few days ago. The senate voted in its favor by a vote of 25-21.

Gay marriage law removed gender references in the marriage laws and will also give the right to churches to choose if they will celebrate or not the ceremonies.

Will the House of Delegates vote for or against this bill?

Democrat Keiffer Mitchell, one of its sponsors, warned: "The Senate has been congenial. The House is going to be a lot more volatile. There are more personalities in the mix. I’m concerned about the tone."

71 votes will be necessary to turn this bill into a law. Currently, there are 58 delegates who sponsor it.

After, the House of Delegates, it will need the signature of the Governor Martin O' Malley who already said that he would sign the bill.

To be continued...
