McKinney High School Crowns Lesbian Homecoming Queen

Written by

A 17-years-old lesbian student has been elected homecoming queen of McKinney High School in Texas.

April Swartz-Larson came out in 8th grade. She said a part of her family accepted it, a part didn't. Now she is a proud homecoming queen with a bow tie and a suit!

"I'm not the typical choice for homecoming queen at all. I'm gay, first of all, and I'm gay living in McKinney,” April told My Fox ChicagoMy Fox Chicago.

April added the crowd's cheerful response to her big win meant more to her than the crown.
