The North Carolina's Governor Pat McCrory Has Signed A Non Discrimination Order In Hiring Without Protection For LGBT People

The governor of North Carolina, Pat McCrory, issued a non-discrimination executive order in hiring. This is great! Except that, in this order, there is no question of the protection of individuals against discrimination based on sexual orientation.

According to the Associated Press, Governor Pat McCrory said that he's following language within federal and state laws while issuing an executive order requiring nondiscrimination in state employee hiring.

This ordinance provides protection on race, religion, gender, age and disability.

Equality North Carolina is now calling McCrory to review the order to also protect gay and transgender residents.

A challenge to overturn the ban on marriage equality in North Carolina was launched by the United Church of Christ last April. Other groups representing the Baptist and Jewish congregations have also joined this movement.

And another challenge has been launched by ACLU few weeks earlier.
