Obama Nominated A Lesbian For U.S. District Court

Alison J. Nathan, openly lesbian, was nominated by the White House at the U.S. district court for the southern district of New York.

President Obama said that “Alison Nathan is a distinguished individual who has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to justice throughout her career. I am grateful for her decision to serve the American people from the District Court bench.”

Since 2010, she worked in the office of the New York state attorney general as special counsel to the solicitor general, she was also before a special assistant to President Obama and an associate White House counsel.

Nathan is the third LGBT person that President Obama named for the federal court for the southern district of New York.
