This approach was led by the group Omaha Liberty Project which announced to have failed by the means of its executive director Patrick Bonnett.
"We've got to be pretty darn close to the number we need," he said. "Darn close, but we just didn't get it."
According to The Omaha World-Herald, the City Council once rejected such protections for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender residents in employment and public accommodations before revisiting the issue last spring. The ordinance had been passed last March with a 4-3 vote.
