New York could for the first time have a lesbian mayor because Christine Quinn leads to replace the current mayor of the city Michael Bloomberg.

According to Quinnipiac University poll, the city legislator Christine Quinn will beat the popular Police Commissioner Ray Kelly even if currently, none of both publicly declared their candidacy.

The poll indicates that Quinn would have 48 percent of support and Kelly would have 33 percent.

The poll also specifies that on the three Democrat potential candidates, all will beat Kelly.

"Ray Kelly is a great police commissioner, and he'd be a good mayor, New Yorkers think, but it's still a Democratic town," said Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

Quinn is "comfortably ahead" of potential Democratic rivals, Carroll said.

We will thus see in November 2013, date of the municipal elections.
