Pro-LGBT-Rights And Anti-LGBT-Rights People Oppose In Houston After The Approval Of The Public Bathrooms Bill

Since the beginning of the year, a battle about the transgenders rights to use public toilets for men and women as they please in the city of Houston oppose the mayor and a group of Christian pastors.

Last May, Mayor Annise Parker has passed a "Bathroom Bill" allowing transgenders to choose to use public toilets for men or women. A group of conservatives is opposed to the bill, bringing together tens of thousands of signatures to repeal the law in a legal way. The city has rejected the application for revocation.

The case was then escalated as the city lawyers asked to see all the sermons and speeches of 5 pastors opposing the bill, especially the parts about homosexuality, gender identity and the fact that the mayor is openly lesbian.

The Conservatives took it there as an attack on freedom of speech and religious expression resulting in a wave of opposition.

The case is still ongoing and did not seem to soften as it is now spreading to other states, the Republican Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee has indeed supported the pastors.
