Republicans Decided To Appeal DOMA Case To Supreme Court

This is official, Republicans decided to spend a lot of money during the crisis to defend DOMA as Nancy Pelosi confirms: they decided "to waste more taxpayer funds to advance a position rejected by four different courts and to defend discrimination and inequality before the highest court in the land."

We had seen a few weeks ago that the courts of Boston and New York had ruled DOMA to be unconstitutional.

Of course, Republicans disliked these decisions and plan to spend a budget of $1.5 million to defend this law.

"We believe there is no federal interest in denying LGBT couples the same rights and responsibilities afforded to all couples married under state law," Pelosi said. "And we are confident that the Supreme Court, if it considers the case, will declare DOMA unconstitutional and relegate it to the dustbin of history once and for all."

It is not the only one to think the Supreme Court will consider DOMA as unconstitutional. Even George Will, conservative commentator and columnist, also thinks the Supreme Court will oppose this law as he said during an interview on ABC last week.
