San Mateo County Could Have A LGBT Commission

Written by

San Mateo County Board of Supervisors will decide if it allows the creation of a LGBT commission, a first in California.

This commission, if approved, would advise the board on policy, bring greater visibility to the LGBT community, and provide a forum for individuals to air their concerns, it would focus itself on promoting inclusion for transgenders and would work to reduce bullying, according to the Mercury News.

There already exist human rights commissions, like in San Francisco, who deals at the same time with LGBT issues but it would be the first time that a commission would be dedicated to our community.
