Texas House Speaker Raises Doubts Over Legislation Restricting Access To Bathrooms

House speaker Joe Straus told the Texas Association of Business that a ban on access to public toilets for transgender people could be "bad for businesses."

Indeed, the Republicans of Texas would like to put in place a measure preventing trans* people from the access of the bathrooms according to their gender. However, it would seem that the Speaker of the House is not necessarily in favor of this measure.

"I think we should be very careful about doing something that can make Texas less competitive," he said.

And a study confirms these doubts since by adopting such legislation, Texas would lose 100,000 jobs and $8 billion.

For the moment, the governor of Texas Greg Abbott has not given his opinion on the matter.
