Written by

Kristene Chapa, one of the girl shot in Texas, is better and can now communicate.

Hilario Chapa, the brother of Kristene, told MSNBC that his sister "has opened her eyes and is making inquiries about her recovery, though she has to write on a clipboard and use sign language to communicate, and she has little sensation on the left side of her body."

"I do believe she knows what’s happened, but she hasn’t chosen to talk (about) it on her own," he said. "I’m under the impression that she doesn’t know" who did it.

"I think she’s pissed about what happened to her and I think she’s ready to get up and take off walking if she could," he added.

A witness told the police that the suspect is a white man with dark hair in his 20s, weighing 140 pounds and standing 5 foot 8 inches tall.

According to MSNBC, Kristene has written Mollie’s name down a few times, but Hilario said he worried about telling her she was killed, fearing it could cause a medical setback.

Besides the tragedy, the Chapa family is facing up financial problems. Kristene does not have any medical health insurance, her father had just found a new job but was not covered yet when this tragedy happened.

Kristene's family have collected $29,080 with donations and if you waish to help them, just follow this link: Donations For Kristene Chapa
