Texas Republicans endorse 24 anti-LGBT positions in new platform

republican convention 2018

The Republican Party took new anti-LGBT positions during its convention in Texas.

Indeed, Texas Republicans now approve "ex-gay" therapies and 23 other anti-LGBT proposals.

For example, they oppose LGBTQ+-inclusive hate crime laws and transgender military service.

The Texas GOP is also against "transgender identity".

They are calling the "legislature to enact laws prohibiting the use of hormones before the age of 18 in an attempt to change gender."

They approve anti-trans bathrooms bills that prevent trans people to use restrooms, showers and locker rooms in public schools or government buildings. They would like access to these to be based on biological sex.

The Republican party reaffirms that traditional marriage is a union between a man and a woman. It urges current Texas governor, Greg Abbott, to reject the 2015 Supreme Court decision that legalized marriage equality.

Human Rights Campaign Southern States press secretary Nick Morrow said: "Fourteen states and Washington, D.C. have laws or regulations effectively banning so-called conversion therapy for minors, and several others have pending legislation that would do the same.

"Meanwhile, Republican leaders in Texas continue to needlessly and cruelly attack their LGBTQ residents, contrary to the will of their own constituents.

"It would be great if the Texas GOP could join the rest of us in the year 2018."

Sure that will be great. I know it won't be easy but I hope Lupe Valdez will become the new governor of Texas to put an end to all these hateful attempts.
