The Decision Of The U.S. Supreme Court Is Not Just A Wedding Matter But So Much More

The Supreme Court of the United States is about to rule on the equal marriage and this decision could make a difference not only in terms of access to marriage, but it is also a family matter as this could lead to the end of procedures for adoption of our own children.

Following the example of Sarah Weigle and Julia Crouch, who married in Washington in November 2014. Since the couple moved to Seattle and Julia was no longer recognized as a mother, she had to adopt their daughter Maya Rose in January.

«It is kind of an odd thing to have to adopt your own child,» says Julia.

«We probably could have been OK without going forward with the adoption, so long as we didn’t travel outside the state,» Crouch says. «But we do plan to travel outside the state, so it seemed like the responsible thing to do.»
