The "God Loves Gays" Billboard Is Up In Topeka, Kansas!

7 months. For 7 long months, the very homophobic city of Topeka, Kansas, will host the wonderful "God Loves Gays" billboard.

The threats of the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) will not change the urge to see this sign posted across the United States.

"Thank God for that lying billboard! Every soul that sees it will either rejoice for the lie and the vain hope of afflicting the servants of God at WBC," Shirley Phelps-Roper, a spokesperson for the Church tells Mashable.

"Or, they will sigh and mourn for that awful sin and all the parts of it, knowing that every single soul that weighed in with money or words, in favor of that lying billboard, will stand before God in the Judgment, so very ashamed. Knowing also, that when they stand before God in the judgment, it will be TOO LATE for repentance, and eternal torment will follow," she added.

But following a fundraising campaign, this first billboard has been installed as planned on Monday in Topeka and will remain in place until at least March 2015.

It could also be that the city buses are also covered with a “God Loves Gays” poster.

Note that a portion of the funds collected for this project were donated to associations Trevor ProjectTrevor Project and Equality HouseEquality House who bring both their support for LGBT youth.
