The Greeting Cards Celebrating Marriage Equality Have Been Removed From The Brigham Young University Bookstore

Greeting cards celebrating the equal marriage have disappeared from Brigham Young University (BYU) bookstore in Salt Lake City.

These greeting cards by Hallmark placed on that read "Mr. and Mr." and "Mrs. and Mrs." were removed by the staff of the bookstore.

Indeed, it is not the staff itself who puts cards up but the supplier.

BYU spokeswoman Carri Jenkins explained that the university could not sell them because the BYU honor code states that while being attracted to people of the same gender doesn't violate the code, acting on those feelings is a violation.

Jenkins also added that the bookstore staff would now be responsible for the implementation of the cards on the shelves.

BYU is owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which opposes the marriage between same-sex people.
