The Judge Decided Not To Repeal The Ban On Marriage Equality In Tennessee

Written by

Here we are facing the first defeat in a case challenging the ban on equal marriage in Tennessee.

Judge Russell E. Simmons, Jr. ruled that the ban on marriage for same-sex couples does not violate the Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution and therefore this ban could remain in place.

The ban was approved by 81 % of voters in 2006.

Now the question is whether this decision is going to be appealed.
